VARIOUS ARTISTS When Shapes Join Together 3

Following through from the first two compilation albums comes this, the aptly titled When Shapes Join Together 3. The first album saw the debut releases of both Bonobo (now signed to Ninja Tune) and Chris Clark (now signed to Warp). The second album contained tracks from Chroma (signed to LTJ Bukem’s Good Looking label as Pete Rann) and Diversion Tactics (transferred to the Zebra Traffic hip hop label) who have recently been awarded 'Single Of The Month' in Hip Hop Connection. This ethos of giving emerging artists space to air their considerable talent continues apace in this latest instalment, with Tru Thoughts debuts (on CD, at any rate) from Mangataot, The Limp Twins, Treva Whateva, Capoeira Twins, Natural-Self and Unitone, not to mention appearances from label stalwarts Bonobo, Quantic (in both his solo and Soul Orchestra guises), and Jon Kennedy. Having generated consistent support from DJ’s across the world, encompassing a variety of different music scenes, it seems the sound of Tru Thoughts is reaching an ever increasing amount of people with every release. This compilation continues with the theme of the first two– exploring music influenced by jazz, funk, hip hop and soul at a variety of tempos.
