Unfold's second release is a selection of classic tunes that Robert Luis (A&R for Tru Thoughts, Unfold and Zebra Traffic) plays at our weekly Saturday club night phonic:hoop (at the Enigma, Ship Street, Brighton). After the success of Mr. Scruff's hugely popular reggae opener, 'phonic:hoop' is a flavour of all that's good at our weekly shindig! Twelve diverse cuts traversing the spectrum from soulful breakbeats through to crazy-arsed ragga and cutting edge UK hip hop, much of it is rarer than the juciest of steaks! The music is best described through our tagline of 'jazzbreakshiphopsoulfunkbeatsounds' as it is always hard to find a single word for the range of styles we support and listen to. Like all of Unfold's output, this is a compilation rather than a mix so dip in and see why our phonic:hoop club is about playing any record, of any genre, that sounds right at the time!
