Basement Digs are proud to release the third in this top selling and well
respected series
RESPECT OVERDUE VOL 3 14 jazz, funk and rare-groove unearthings from Australia's
'70s vaults..
In the tradition of Mastercuts, Soul Jazz, Luv N' Haight and other lovingly compiled crate digger collections/labels, Respect Overdue is a uniquely Australian series bringing collectors and rare groove fanatics the best in Australian re-issue jazz-funk You won't believe some of these cuts come from the antipodes!
Volumes I & II of the series have had scores of fans around the world. With virtually every head in the greater C-Vibes world wide family, past and present copping these disks, we've had fan mail from Mr Scruff, Jazzanova, DJ Vadim and many many more.
Tipped as the last in the series, Respect Overdue Vol 3 features some amazing gems that may have you wondering if we left the best till last. A collection of rare and extremely hard to find groove, funk and jazz funk classics complied by series originator Peter Pasqual who undoubtedly has one of the best record collections in Australia.
Respect Overdue Vol 3 once again showcases a diverse collection of previously laid to rest classics cuts by the likes of Don Lane (yes the same Don as from the 1970’s Don Lane show) with his little known cover of Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine". This track is worth the asking price of the album alone! Then there's Helen Reddy with her feminist tinged version of "Hit The Road Jack" and the must have and very rare funk-horn laden "Pink Steamroller" by enigmatic Oz combo The Life Organisation led by trumpet guru Miroslav Bukovsky. This was actually Bukovsky's first ever recording in Australia, dating back 30 years and originally released on 7”. Besides tracks from Crossfire, Pyramid and The Masters Apprentices, there's no going past Billy Burton's trumpet laden working of "Name Of The Game" and Al Styne with his cop-shop vice-groove "Vehicle".
The last in the series, but definitely not the least!
