The masters of super-heavy, raw and upfront drum-break driven grooves are back with a bigger sound and The Bamboos brand of swinging soul, and finger snapping funk.
Following up the celebrated ‘Step it Up’ and ‘Rawville’ albums, The Bamboos most recently appeared on the acclaimed debut album ‘Just Say’ from The Bamboos own soul sister Kylie Auldist, flexing their funk backing Kylie’s 24 karat voice.
Powerhouse vocalist Kylie Auldist returns the favour featuring on ‘Now That You Are Mine’, ‘Tears Cried’ and ‘Make it Real’ gracing them with her characteristic Mowtown soul sounds. Not to be outdone talented new Melbourne songstress Megan Washington shines as The Bamboos put a 60’s mod-fuelled touch on the Kings of Leon’s off-kilter rocker ”King of the Rodeo”.
UK MC about town TY does the linguist gymnast thing on the certified party-starting stormer ‘Can’t Help Myself’, while Swedish soul sensation Paul MacInnes’s contribution on ‘Move On’ is a sweet slice of ‘conscious’ soul for our times.
While maintaining their well-known penchant for producing old-school breaks, with driving horns, catchy keyboard sections, and infectious guitar riffs, The Bamboos latest offering is the sound of collective who continue to develop, producing a rounded and more refined end result than previous releases.
