What the critics say about Regal :-

“The best thing I’ve heard in ages!” – DJ FOOD
“Timeless” – DRUM MEDIA

After 6 years spent idling around Bondi Beach, Regal has amazingly amassed another body of work, to complement his critically acclaimed debut solo album Loop Dreams (2007 Unique / Basement Digs).

“Regal Presents!” is a fine representation of this 6yr period and with the majority of these tracks connected to local artists, it also shows Regal’s strong kinship within the local musical community. It also underscores the highly talented local element in recording these tracks, through the fine engineering & mastering here-in.

Kicking off with one of his most recent productions, “Cruise Controller” (2008) is Regal’s first real entry into the world of Dub, co-using his downbeat roots in spaciously remixing Bondi’s The Versionaries. This is followed by 1200 Techniques’ Aria award-winning “Karma” (2002), which was given the Regal treatment on the CD single, back when the Royal one was living in Melbourne, which also led to Regal hooking up with another local, the legendary DJ Ransom, and conjuring up their playful B-Boy track “Do The Do” (2002), a cheeky nod to Mr Kurtis Blow and released on his mates, The Resin Dogs’, label, Hyrdrofunk.

Other notable ‘old-school heads’, have played a key role in settling Regal into Oz, not the least being DJ maestro Mark Walton and their connection is quite considerable throughout this album. From working together on “Walter’s Place” (2007) & “Rock The Funky Beat” (2004), both early-80’s influenced dancefloor gems, to Mark’s studio also being the conduit for some of Regal’s solo & remix work - “Lt Garber Walks The Line” (2004, as Reggie Ray) & “Summertime” (2004) by The Camels, respectively, which went on to enjoy high rotation play from national radio station Triple J.

Another vital man to Regal’s resurgence, is the acclaimed studio wiz, Jimi Polar, who engineered the sessions for Regal’s remixes of Malente, All Good funk Alliance & Watussi, following their prolific “Loop Dreams” sessions of ’06. JP’s masterful knowledge of FX has helped give Regal’s Hip Hop & Beats outings, a subtle futuristic edge.
Rounding up things is Regal’s old-school club-style remix of 2UP’s “Boomin”, which is the newest track on the album and has a strong flavour of Regal’s Hip Hop roots.
