Be warned! Microsleep's debut self-titled CD
is a killer!
When you’re feeling a little confused and too afraid to go outside
you can hide in a pair of headphones and freak out a little. Take out all
the lies, clicking noises, buzzy bits, optimism, train doors, fruit flies,
park equipment, pessimism, breathing, confusion, booming, banging, strumming,
whispering, talking, singing, screaming, contemplating, tin cans and hope,
and all you're left with is hiss.
This eight-track mini album from Microsleep is a little bit electronic, a little bit indie, and a little bit pop, and we dare you to try and get these songs out of your head!
Microsleep is Michael Miller, with just add a dash of flying foxes, Moby, freeways, Massive Attack, monkey bars, Nine Inch Nails, train doors, UNKLE, talking, screaming, whispering, Beck, seesaws, The Flaming Lips, and other peoples conversations.
The whole concept of Microsleep is to create a song starting with one little audio sample and build on it ‘til it’s complete - avoiding re-records in the process. Everything on this CD is of its moment – usually 2 am! Nothing was planned or rehearsed; it was created as it was recorded; the lyrics were born as a twin of the melody and immediately captured; there were no “take twos”; it was dissected, distorted, mixed and manipulated into eight little monsters - beautiful freaks!
Microsleep has survived over four computers, three home studios, and two states... Microsleep is on a journey somewhere, but where it’s going … well, that’s a surprise!
“Never forget that sometimes you just need to let the voices in your head have a singalong.”
