Diesler is a 20 year old producer from Lancashire who isn’t afraid to let diversity do the talking. With a distinctive globe-trotting production style which ranges from straight-up jazz and funk-influenced beats to a more exotic breed of Latin-tinged dancefloor stompers, Diesler’s musical output has been attracting a swarm of attention of late. Having first come to the attention of many when he contributed a track to Tru Thoughts ‘Shapes’ compilation series, this was swiftly followed by his debut 12” EP ‘Ladies & Gentlemen, Start Your Engines Please’. Creating a broad-minded melting pot of musical cultures, genres, and sounds by flawlessly fusing Latin, Cuban, Jazz, Funk, Soul and Beats, ‘Diggin’ It Somethin’ Rotten’ is certain to ignite dancefloors the world over.
The album features the best of 30 tracks which Diesler has recorded and sent to the Tru Thoughts HQ. ‘Sandcastles’ was the track that The Big Chill chose to soundtrack the video they played on the main stage to close their 10th Anniversary Festival in 2004. ‘Burnley Wallet’ & ‘Redux’ are already club anthems at the Tru Thoughts club night phonic:hoop. ‘Heist Theme’ and ‘Calling All Cars’ further showcase Diesler’s love of bass! The album also includes Diesler’s first ever vocal production ‘High Time’ which alongside ‘Dark Water’ reveal that his sound is not solely dancefloor orientated.
Having already received support from everyone from Mr Scruff and Patrick Forge to Zane Lowe (BBC Radio 1), Diesler is definitely one young producer to be keeping an eye on in 2005. Coupled with the present demand for his remix work, it seems many labels and artists feel the same. A firm favourite with clubbers and DJ’s alike, the album is released on CD format with all tracks available for vinyl junkies through three separate EP’s.
