CIRCLE - Just Keep Swimming

For those who missed their first incarnation, Circle hit the ground running in 2004 under the moniker ‘Opanoni and The Raindrops’. Their self produced EP ‘Stamps and Coins’ was well received and enjoyed many months rotation on the independent radio scene.

Inspired by the overwhelming response the album received both locally and overseas the band decided to take things up a notch. This came by way of starting a new album, a name change and most importantly hitting the local pub and club scene. Up until 2007 the project was primarily a solo affair for front man and songsmith Radi Safi. The changes however required a solid line up and a new take on recording songs that ‘a band’ had written together.

Circle emerged from the studio in November 2007 a changed band with an album with just as much quirk factor but also with songs that hinted at the darker side of life. Wistful, melancholic lyrics combined with layered soundscapes to paint the fascinating musical picture Circle produce.

The charming, intelligent sounds which provoke a feeling of longing, and contemplation always manage to leave the listener with a general sense of well being by song’s end. Safi’s genuine passion for eclectic sounds shine through, as do his thoughtful choice of words.
